P90X; Day 21 (Round 2)

Today was the best work out I have had in recent memory.

I did 4.75 miles on the treadmill; the first mile was a 3.0 mph walk with a 2.5 incline, then I ran a mile at 6.0, walked half a mile at 3.0 mph with a 2.5 incline, then I ran a mile at 6.5, walked again, and finished with a 7.5 mph run in 62 minutes.

I have never been on a treadmill for longer than 20 minutes.

After the run, I did Core Synergistics.

The unfortunate side of today was my diet; today was the worst day for caloric intake in probably 3 months. I don’t know what happened; I lost control and had probably 3500 calories and more grams of fat than I care to admit.

I hope that I can continue to improve my work outs and curtail my diet.

P90X; Day 20 (Round 2)

Legs & Back + Ab Ripper X.

The first time around, I would be dripping with sweat after a single routine. Now I find that I’m not getting the same burn I was the first go round.

Something is going to have to change in my work outs, my diet, and my approach to weight loss and fitness.

P90X; Day 18 (Round 2)

My legs, as well as my back, have been in a lot of pain because of my new running regiment.
I was supposed to do Legs & Back today but substituted Cardio X in it’s place.

Tomorrow I will try to do Legs & Back and will forego the 1 mile run.

I know running is an excellent exercise addition, but running every day at this point may do more harm than good. I’ve run, I think, 4 or 5 days in a row. I will take a few days off to get my legs back. After Legs & Back I’ll try Yoga and then take a full day off (maybe).

Today’s diet was good; protein shake for breakfast followed by a granola bar mid morning, lunch was a sandwich from Atlanta Bread Co with Chips (estimated 1000 calories) and dinner was turkey chili with 2 clementines to cleanse the pallet. I have to think that today’s caloric intake was between 1700-2000; I can’t imagine I took in more than 2000. Coupled with my workout routine which easily burned 500, I should definitely be losing some weight.

The scales have not been kind lately, but I still have my goal set to be under 200 (-8) by Day 30.

P90X; Day 17 (Round 2)

I replaced Yoga X with Core Syergistics and a 9:22 mile today.
I wanted to do something aerobic today — I will do Yoga on the Kenpo day or on the off day.

Having said that, I feel good and hope that by Day 30 I’ll be under 200 (199 = 8 lbs).

P90X; Day 16 (Round 2)

I hate not having the Shoulders & Arms DVD. I always get a good sweat, but I feel like something is missing. Today, Ab Ripper X was that something. I hope the 9:22 mile I ran makes up for it in some respect, but I will have to get a copy of DVD #3 sooner rather than later.

I haven’t weighed myself in a while; I will jump on the scale tomorrow in honor of The Biggest Loser’s new season.

P90X; Day 15 (Round 2)

Plyometrics.

I would give myself a 7 out of 10 for my effort on today’s routine. I felt that I did well for most exercises, but there is always room for improvement.

My diet was decent until dinner and drinks.

P90X; Day 14 (Round 2)

Today I decided to do Chest & Back to kick off week 3. I’m a day behind the regular schedule, but I feel confident that I can throw in a Core Synergistics or a Cardio X supplemented workout during the week.

I warmed up with a run; I ran a sub 10 minute mile for the first time since I can remember. If I ran a 10 minute mile in college, I don’t remember doing it. If I ran a 10 minute mile in high school, I would be shocked that I even attempted the feat. Running is mentally difficult for me; the monotony plus the ache on my legs/shins makes the task difficult. I just kept telling myself to focus, breathe, and work through the discomfort.

I hope that I can continue to run; a ten minuteĀ  mile to warm up before a work out is worth 150 calories according the American Council on Exercise. I hope that over time I can reach 1.5, 2, and eventually 3.1 miles, which is 5 km.

My Chest & Back work out today was great. I pushed past my previous numbers and was able to add 2-5 push ups to each exercise and about 5 lbs to some weight training routines.

All in all, this was a fabulous day for diet and fitness.

Breakfast: Raisin Bran Crunch

Lunch: Turkey and Pastrami on Ciabatta with onion, lettuce, and mustard with pretzels.

Dinner: Home made bowl; chicken, rice, onion, carrots, and guacamole.

P90X; Day 12 (Round 2)

To warm up, I did a 12 minute mile walk/jog/run and a mile on the upright bike. It only took 4 minutes but I felt like I needed it to warm up my legs for Kenpo X.

I find that I am not sweating nearly as much as I did in round 1.

Unfortunately, my two week break from P90X coupled with poor eating habits have put me right back to square one; 207.5 lbs.

I still have hopes for 180, but I have to set smaller goals. For now, I hope to be 200 by Day 30, 190 by Day 60, and then finally 180 by Day 90.
